Dear Jack:-
Well-we asked for summer & here it is--91 today--although poor Don says it is 120 over there.
It seems my heart is in my mouth all the time over you kids---I hope your ship steers clear of those suicide planes.
Don said he had an infected ear-but it is better.  This the second time he has had trouble with his ear since the auto accident and I wonder if there is any connection.
Brad Law & his girl were up today.  He is to be in Maryland until Aug. and then if he gets a furlough he is going to get married.  Nuts!  I'd say.  I hear Jimmie is going with Betty McCafferty.  Chick was talking to Kennie Roberts -- the one who was a prisoner for so long.  He said the Germans sure treated them rough.  Don found out that Bob Miller is in the Bengal district but I don't know whether they can get together or not.  It would be nice to see someone from home.
I guess Finny is looking for a transfer someplace after July 1.  At least Alice said they would be home around that time.  They'll be in a fine fix if Grandma sells the house.
When I went down to the store yesterday - Kassie & Mrs. Glass were sitting on the lawn and asked me in to sit awhile.  During the conversation Kassie said she was reducing as she had gained some weight.  I told here I was going to write Don and tell him at least she wasn't pining away for him, or she wouldn't be gaining!  She is going to Pitt this summer to take up some Math she needs.  Well I guess this is all for now  Write when you can & Be Careful
        Love - Omie
