  Dear Jack,     How are you I am fine. There is nothing new around here I got my finger caught in the ringer yesterday helping mother wash.  What is it like up there?  It has been very hot here for the last few days.  There has been little rain here.  Daddy got a birthstone for his birthday.  It is a ruby.  What time in Sept. do you think you will be home?     Why don't you write to me.  There isn't anything else to say so I'll close.  Please write.                                                                           Love, Helen
