Apr 24-45 Dear Jack:     Received your letter today sorry to hear you still have a cold. We had to have fire in the furnace again but it is warmer now.  Finny Alice and Judy went home today.  Finny was better gained 7 or 8 lbs.  He was not so nervous either.  Alice was better.  I gave Chick the $15.00 as soon as I cam home.  Finny is going to have the Dr. give him a checkup and let him know when he can go to work.  I guess David will be glad to see them as he slept at home by himself.  He got his breakfast and supper at Shirleys.  I hope it does not get as hot as I have to do some house cleaning.  I hope tis finds you O.K. and not working to hard.  Write when you can.                                        Love Grandma

Dear Jack:     Well here we are home again.  Finny wasn't getting any better and the Dr. said to bring him home.  He is feeling better already.  Also my nerves let go and I had to have Mom come up.  So I'm feeling better too.  We have Judy with us but left Dave at home.     Thanks so much for the money -- I sure needed it.  It cost us almost $40.00 to come home.  Finny had to have a bedroom compartment.  He stood the trip pretty well tho'.  He's getting lots of rest ehre and so am I.  That's what we both needed.  Judy still talks about you and says she likes sailors best.  She's staying up at Omie's.  Well I have no more news but will write again.  Thanks again for the money.                                                       ...

Apr. 4-45 Dear Jack:     Was glad to hear your cold is better.  We are having real nice weather here although we have to have fire in the furnace.  I only have about 3 bu. of coal.  I don't know whether he is going to bring any or not.  Am going up to Vandergrift to club today.  The Graham's are going to move if they get a place. Margaret is to go to East  Liberty and Iris wants a smaller place. I hope they find one as I would like to have a man around maybe he would help with the yard.  I don't know what I am going to do if I don't soon get some one to cut the grass.  Got the check and will send Alice the $25.00 and keep my $15.00 as I gave her $60.00 where I was out.  Well there is nothing new so will close.  With Love Grandma Did you get Joe's letter

April 1 Easter Dear Jack;-     Had a letter from Don yesterday and he said he heard from Rich & he is having lots of fun in Conn but I don't know his address.  Said Rich didn't expect to be there much longer.     This was a very quiet Easter, but I can't help thinking back when you & Don were little and we had so much candy we didn't know what to do with it.     Drew Pearson (the commentator) said today the war in Germany would end in April-we would attack & invade the Main islands in Japan and the war over there would be over in 1945.  I hope so.     If you happen to write to Alice don't mention Edward Batz as we haven't told them.  Grandma called Alice today and she said Finny is feeling fine but has a...
