Sept 9 1945 From Omie

Dear Jack.--
I received a letter from you written Aug. 10  --  It took a month to get here.
I hope by this time you will know how soon you will be home.  It seems that now the war is over you kids should get home.  I hope to God we don't lose the peace  --but no one at home can understand the kid gloved handling of Japan by McArthur.  It seemed at first he would be a stern man to go in there.  Its too bad they didn't give Halsey a chance at them
I hear Vince Lauer was in an auto accident the other night.  Had stitches taken in his head.
Chick & Bob went up to Cochranton over the weekend to fish but didn't get anything.  They didn't have the right bait they said.
So far Don hasn't any idea when he will be home.  Maybe if they bring the wounded home he will get home.
Bob is on the second string team.  They played Friday and won but Bob didn't get a chance to play.
Well -- honey -- where do you want to live if Grandma sells her house?  I was trying to get Mr. Peoples to sell her one of his houses  -- beside Psterhwates but so far no soap.  I'm afraid she's going to have a hard time finding a place.
Well  news is scarce--- I"ll be glad when we can talk instead of write.
                                Love -- Omie
