Feb 8 1945 From Aunt Omie

Feb 8
Dear Jack:-
I'm glad to hear you are able to walk on your ankle.  It must have been pretty bad to keep you laid up so long.  How did it happen?
It hasn't been so cold-in fack we have had 2 days of taw.  There is some danger of a big flood--as there is more than 100 inches of snow at the headwaters.  I finally got off the hill-went to town.
Bob went to Rifle club tonight.  He said he wouldn't have gone only they are having an algebra test tomorrow and Miss McCrum has charge of the Rifle club.
Uncle Chick pass the brokers test he had to retake--thank heavens!
Jessie & little Cliffie were down the other night.  He is sure cute & as good as gold.  Chuckee has been bothered with bealed ears almost all winter.
There sure is a shortage of cigarettes-we've been able to make out pretty well.  I  guess it would be better if we couldn't get any and then I'd quit--ha!
Well-honey it looks as though I've run out of news-so I"ll ring off for this time.  Watch your ankle & keep well--
                Love-Omie

Had a letter from Don & he says they are eating goat meat once in awhile & what he couldn't do to a salad.
